Karen Carrier (piano, voice, theory)

Full Bio
Karen joined the Lippert staff in 2000 to teach the co-requisites to the higher levels of instrumental performance. These courses include: theory, history, harmony, counterpoint and analysis. Karen holds an ARCT in Theory with distinction, Grade 10 Honours in Voice and Grade 9 in Piano. A very versatile performer, Karen has sung opera, classical and popular music in many different venues. She has been soprano soloist at several well known churches in the Toronto area. Her studies have taken her to Austria to study with some of the best teachers in the world. She is also a freelance Equestrian Instructor and coaches numerous students for shows throughout Ontario. A very dedicated teacher, Karen has gone out of her way to help students attain high standards on the university level courses she teaches.

Melinda Delorme (piano, voice)

Melinda is a graduate of the Canadian Opera Company's Ensemble Studio, holds two degrees from the University of Toronto, (Mus.Bac.Perf.2002) and (M.Mus.2005), and has completed her grade 9 RCM piano. She has appeared with the Canadian Opera Company, Toronto's Opera in Concert, Toronto Operetta Theatre, and in concert with the Aldeburgh Connection. Melinda was honoured to sing in the Inaugural Gala Concerts for the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts. Operatic roles include the title role in Savitri, the title role in Ariadne auf Naxos, the Second Lady in The Magic Flute, the Fourth maid in Elektra, Aksinya in Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, Countess Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro, Berta in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, and Donna Elvira in Gazzaniga's Don Giovanni, Marie in Wozzeck, Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, Helmwige and Ortlinde in Die Walküre, the Third Norn and Gutrune in Götterdämmerung, Tatyana in Eugene Onegin, and Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni.

Claire de Sévigné

Montreal born soprano Claire de Sévigné recently graduated with a Master’s degree in opera from the University of Toronto (UT). She appeared as Lucia in Lucia di lammermoor and Gretel in Hansel and Gretel. Last year Ms. de Sévigné sang the roles of Flaminia in Il mondo della luna with an “Expressive voice and nice coloratura” (Opera Canada) and Cunegonde in Candide with UT.
Ms. de Sévigné recently returned from the Aspen Opera Theater Program where she understudied the role of Tytania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. In June Ms. de Sévigné performed with the Tafelmusik Baroque Institute and recently competed as a semi-finalist in the Palm Beach Opera Competition.
In March she performed the role of Oksana in The Enslavement and Liberation of Oksana G with Tapestry New Opera. In December Ms. de Sévigné performed Messiah with the Buffalo Philharmonic and performed in recital with the Aldeburgh Connection Young Artist Discovery Series.
Ms. de Sévigné earned her Bachelor’s degree in vocal performance from McGill University in 2009 where she appeared in many productions including La Rondine, The Rape of Lucretia, and Thésée.
Last summer Ms. de Sévigné appeared as Cleopatra in Handel’s Giulio Cesare with the Center of Opera Studies in Italy. In past summers Ms. de Sévigné has attended the Canadian Vocal Arts Institute, Opera NUOVA and Janiec Opera Company at the Brevard Music Center.
Ms. de Sévigné’s upcoming engagements include the role of Cleopatra in Giulio Cesare with Maestro Kevin Mallon and the Thirteen Strings Orchestra. She will also be attending Vancouver Opera’s Y.A.C.I.N training program in December.

Celia Palli (voice)

- A fine practitioner in the field of pop, Celia is currently a member of Nelly Furtado’s ensemble as well as recording with her, and other groups such as Plan C, Blanco and Café Ole.
- Celia is consistently expanding the knowledge of her craft through constant study.

Celia is an up and coming artist in the genre of pop. She is currently touring with Nelly Furtado, as well as developing her solo career. Celia is a well rounded musician, composer, and lyricist. She has recorded in several albums with performers such as Nelly Furtado, Plan C, El Blanco and The Cafe Ole's. In addition to her music degree from Thompson Rivers University and her music diploma from Humber College, Celia has continued to take lessons from different teachers and different methods for the past 10 years in order to complete her understanding of such an organic instrument as the voice. Celia Palli joined Lippert Music staff in 2010.

Janna is a proud Newfie who now makes Toronto her home. She obtained her Bachelor of Music degree from Mount Allison University and a Masters in Voice Performance from Western Washington University. She studied and coached with some of Canada's best including Gail Katz, Peter Tiefenbach, Jean MacPhail, Phyllis Mailing, and Wendy Nielson. Performance credits on the operatic stage include Fiordiligi in Mozart's Cosi fan tutte, Musetta in Puccini's La Boheme, the title role in Carlisle Floyd's Susannah, Donna Elvira in Mozart's Don Giovanni, and Violetta in Verdi's La Traviata.

Paula Wickberg (piano, voice)

- A lecturer for The University of Saskatchewan and The Saskatoon Registered Teachers on topics related to music and psychology.
- A regular performer, Paula has been heard with the Orpheus Choir of Toronto, Opera NUOVA and the Canadian Opera Company.

Paula holds a Master of Arts degree in Psychology for Musicians from Sheffield, England as well as both a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance and a BA in Psychology from the University of Saskatchewan. She has lectured both at the University of Saskatchewan and for the Saskatoon Registered Music Teachers on topics related to psychology and music. Paula is presently living in Toronto and has recently completed an Artist Diploma at the University of Toronto under the instruction of Mary Morrison.
As a mezzo-soprano, Ms. Wickberg has enjoyed diverse performing opportunities both domestically and abroad and has been the recipient of numerous scholarships and awards at both provincial and national levels. She has performed with the Saskatoon Symphony, Saskatoon Opera, The Opera Troupe of Saskatoon, Opera NUOVA, and the Orpheus Choir of Toronto. Abroad, she has performed with La Musica Lirica in Urbania, Italy and has also participated in workshops in both England and Austria with members of the faculty of Guildhall.
Paula enjoys performing diverse repertoire including art song, jazz, oratorio, and opera. She performs regularly with the Canadian Opera Company as part of their chorus.
